DESCRIPTION
Cà Gennara Bed & Breakfast is an old nineteenth century stone farmhouse and it is located in the foothills of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines in the small district of Capugnano, being part of Porretta Terme territory. Sorrounded by vast meadows and chestnut forests, B&B Cà Gennara has everything you need to relax and live in armony with nature.
Here you can find a place where relive the authentic lifestyle of the past and rediscover the human dimension far away from the noisy cities. Breakfast is prepared using only first-quality ingredients, depending from the season and following the Emilian tradition from the mountains.
We usually make cakes with yogurt and smoked chestnut flour still produced with an ancient method behind the house, berry jam from our garden, cherry and plum pies from our trees, “tigelle” with a typical ham and the most famous cheese in the world Parmigiano Reggiano…and so on! For the trekking-lovers, Cà Gennara can be easly reached by foot in 45 min from Porretta Terme station walking down the pathway CAI 107 going to Castelluccio, with which you’ll pass through “Le Croci”, a quaint little burg where Guglielmo Marconi’s father was born.
Story goes that during the period before the Italy’s unification this area was very frequented by a lot of smugglers between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna and for this reason in this farmhouse lived a woman called Gennara who had set up a trattoria to host and feed the travellers.
